The story behind the photo:

Dad was in the right place at the right time for this shot.  After his commercial advertising shoot was finished at Old Tucson Studios, Dad wandered around checking out a movie set.  Workers were tearing down the set and Dad quickly saw he could shoot a branding scene at the movie campfire.  His friend Red Wolverton loaned him the branding irons.

The movie special effects guys, who just happened to be on the trip with him, blew smoke through a PVC pipe to create the crisp separation between the irons and the background.  Simultaneously the model jumped into action and Dad quickly captured his shot.  After returning home, Dad decided the image should be a sepia tone to give it an old West look.
