Description
Dad captured this unexpected shot because he was observant. He and the model had traveled to a private ranch in Colorado for a photo shoot. Overnight a giant storm dumped three feet of snow on the ranch and the temperatures dropped to -10 degrees.
When they stepped out of the cabin the next morning, Dad “saw” a picture and hustled to shoot it. He knew that the blue toned the landscape in the pre-dawn hours would be a great contrast to the yellow light on the porch. Mike, the model, quickly found a stick and lit it in the cabin’s fireplace. He then used the stick as a cigarette lighter.
The light was so low in the early morning hours that Dad told Mike to “be a rock”. Mike was and Dad captured this slice of Old West art.
