Description
Each fall thousands of sandhill cranes gather for the winter at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. The Refuge contains wet bottomlands along the Rio Grande River floodplain that create nice sandhill crane roosting spots for the night. Each morning the cranes fly out to the surrounding agricultural fields to feast. Dad captured these cranes and red-winged blackbirds taking off just as the sun rose.
