Description
At Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in North Texas, the marshes are a great blue heron’s dream. The Refuge ensures the wetlands stay moist and full of fish thanks to a system of dikes. The herons also enjoy hunting along a few streams in the park as well as the shores of Lake Texoma.
The birds of the refuge are very used to cars driving close and passing them. So Dad used a van with a sliding door as rolling camera blind. An assistant very slowly drove close to the heron while Dad photographed out the door using a camera on a tripod with a Wimberley Gimbal head.
