Description
Dad envisioned an epic horse chase photo. To pull off the shot, he created a special camera rig for this shoot at Vermejo Park Ranch in New Mexico.
Dad knew he wouldn’t have much time to capture the cowboy and horses as they passed in front of the camera. So he tripled the odds by mounting three cameras on a steel bar. All of the cameras focused on the horses but showed different angles. The cameras also fired simultaneously when Dad remotely triggered them.
On the big day, wranglers moved the horses through an orange construction fence chute toward the cameras. The cowboy came from the right side of the frame to join the other horses. He had to time his departure just right to not only meet the other horses but also lasso one.
Twenty rolls of film later (yes, it was the days of film) Dad had his shot.
