High Country Fly Fishing

Description

Dad and his model hiked in the dark to this lake at Vermejo Park Ranch. They lugged camera bags, tripods and, of course, fly fishing gear. The idea was to capture a sunrise fly fishing shot.

While getting into position in the dark, the model dropped the two-way radio Dad was using to give him directions. Dad decided it was a pretty good radio because even after being submerged in three feet of cold water it still worked.

Nothing is this photo was altered in Photoshop. The sunrise gave a glow to the fisherman. Dad was lucky because there were dramatic clouds that lit up with warm colors as the sun hit them. And he purposely chose a yellow line on the rod because it would snap out clearly from the background. Everything came together to create a serene fishing scene.
