The story behind the photo:
Sometimes when you have a particular image in mind, reality can can be very frustrating. Being flexible is extremely valuable when shooting the great outdoors. Things are always changing.
I’d previously scouted this location in Big Sur, California. When I returned for the evening photo shoot a couple of days later, the shape of the Little Sur River had completely changed. I was frustrated because now the fence actually blocked part of the river.
I could have given up and returned at a later date, but I decided to change my “idea” for the shoot and include the fence as part of the composition. I’m glad I stayed.
