Moving Hay

Description

The story behind the photo:  Dad captures everyday life on the ranch in unique ways.  He envisioned a dramatically lit photo of an ordinary ranch event, loading bales of hay into the barn.  Dad traveled to his friend’s ranch in Sun Valley Ranch, Colorado for this shot.

This was a relatively simple shot.  Dad added a strobe with gel to warm up the cowboy’s face and his assistant used a Mole-Richardson fogger in the background to help the hay bale separate from the background.  It didn’t take too long to create a winning shot, which was great because it was rather cool outside during the shoot.
