Dad spent several days cruising Blue Cypress Lake in Florida looking for the impressive osprey. His guide at Middleton’s Fish Camp repeatedly got Dad and the pontoon boat to the right spot to capture images of the raptors like this bird who was launching for a hunt.
Ospreys often nest at Blue Cypress Lake. The waters team with bass and that keeps a large number of ospreys and their young well fed. So photographing these fascinating raptors is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.
Osprey can dive feet first into the water to catch fish and have special barbs that help them hold on to their slippery supper. Those special barbs allowed Dad to capture this massive hunter returning home with dinner against the backdrop of a stunning sunset.
