Description
Dad caught this brown pelican landing at the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas. This unlikely bird paradise sits next to a city sewage treatment plant overlooking the Corpus Christi Ship Channel.
While it might not smell too great for the humans, the birds don’t mind. Pelicans, herons and several types of ducks are residents here. During migration season, many birds stop in for a rest before continuing south.
The Center’s boardwalk makes it easy to get closer to the water birds. You might even see an alligator or two along the banks.
