Perching Bald Eagle

The story behind the photo:

It’s not too often you see a traffic jam at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge.  Slightly annoyed, Dad couldn’t imagine what caused it..  Then he saw a woman holding a pair of binoculars and gesturing wildly toward a tree across the road.  His eyes just about popped out of his head.  An eagle, a very rare sight at Hagerman!

Over the next 30 minutes that bald eagle put on a great show for the people gathered down on the dirt road.  Dad got some amazing shots, but his favorite was this dramatic photo right before the eagle took to the skies.
