Description
Dad shot most of this photo at Guadalupe Mountains National Park in West Texas. He was traveling to the Williams Ranch, an abandoned homestead within the park, when a summer storm popped up unexpectedly. He wasn’t planning on shooting a storm, but the lightening was fantastic. So he stopped driving on the incredibly rough road and pulled out his camera. He used the back of his cap-covered pick up truck as a safe shooting position.
Dad captured a great moment in the desert, but he knew he needed something else to really make the picture. He found white horses at a ranch near Austin, Texas. After some work in Adobe Photoshop the summer storm and white horses merged to become a great Old West image.
