Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge northwest of Sherman, Texas overflows with wildlife photography opportunities. The Refuge provides thousands of migrating birds and other wildlife a fruitful layover point during their travels. In the winter months the refuge hosts dizzying amounts of ducks and geese as well as residents like great blue herons, egrets, cormorants, hawks and occasionally bald eagles.
Other residents include coyotes, white-tailed deer, bobcats, river otters and monarch butterflies. Spring time brings plenty of wildflowers too.
In The Adventurer’s Guide to Hagerman Wildlife Refuge Denise and Hugh share their experiences photographing at the refuge. You’ll learn the best times to shoot, what type of gear to bring as well as some of their favorite techniques to get the shots. They also tell you hazards to watch out for during your trip.
Whether you’re a professional photographer or just out exploring the refuge, The Adventurer’s Guide to Hagerman Wildlife Refuge will set you up for success.
